About the claim
Our clients are dentists who had taken on a unit at a retail park in Yorkshire to use as a cosmetic dental practice.
They incurred costs of approximately £313,000 fitting out their unit into a state-of-the-art dental surgery.
Their accountant had made a claim for capital allowances based on information that was readily available originally and were able to identify £30,000 for their client.
We collaborated to review the fit-out expenditure to see if any additional allowances could be identified.
Our approach
We collaborated with the client’s accountant to understand what had already been claimed so far and to agree the next steps.
We then reviewed the invoices for the works done but they were insufficiently detailed and lacked description.
We then determined that the best approach to the claim would be to survey the property in full, carry out a fresh analysis and make an adjustment to account for the allowances already identified by the accountant.
Example of fixtures that were claimed:
- Fitted dental cabinetry & sinks
- Fitted reception desks, seating and worktops
- Ventilation systems
- Electrical systems
Key fact
The invoices were very vague in this instance that it was no surprise that a normal analysis could not unlock the full value of the client’s claim.
We frequently collaborate with accountants their clients claims to identify any opportunities to uplift their claims.
